CASE STUDY: Mitcham Building Supplies Invests £500k in New Concrete Batching Facility From Utranazz

CASE STUDY: Mitcham Building Supplies Invests £500k in New Concrete Batching Facility From Utranazz

Mitcham Building Supplies (MBS) recently embarked on a mission to upgrade their concrete production facility. They recognized the need for expansion after securing significant contracts and decided it was time to produce large-volume concrete in-house. MBS turned to Utranazz, the concrete equipment specialist, for a tailored solution.

Understanding the Vision

MBS reached out to Utranazz, explaining their concrete production goals. To kickstart the process, a site visit was arranged. This visit allowed Utranazz's team to assess the space requirements and gain a comprehensive understanding of MBS's objectives.

Tailored Solutions from Utranazz

Utranazz, with their extensive range of concrete equipment, provided MBS with multiple concrete batching plant options. They even provided customized drawings to visualize how each plant would fit on-site. By offering a complete concrete batching package, including the plant, silos, and truck mixers, Utranazz streamlined the process, saving MBS both time and money.

A £500,000 Investment in Excellence

Mitcham Building Supplies made a substantial investment of £500,000 in a brand-new concrete batching facility, which was supplied and installed by Utranazz. This comprehensive order included three 50-tonne Low-Level Cement Silos, three 8x4 Concrete Truck Mixers, and a Mobile 70 Wet Concrete Batching Plant.

Efficiency with the Mobile 70 Batching Plant

The Mobile 70 Concrete Batching Plant, a plug-and-play unit, was up and running within 24 hours of arriving on-site. With the capacity to produce 70m3 of concrete per hour, it features two separate conveyor belts for faster batching. One belt weighs the aggregates, while the other continuously feeds the single-shaft mixer, ensuring precise material measurement and continual loading during batching.

Calibration and Training

After installation of the plant and silos and arrival of the truck mixers, load cell calibration was performed. A comprehensive system test followed, and MBS's staff received thorough training on equipment operation.

Karl Whaid, Managing Director of Mitcham Building Supplies, expressed his satisfaction: "Having our own concrete batching provision is a new avenue for us. Previously we supplied concrete using our fleet of volumetric mixers and a cement silo. However, we recently won a number of big contracts and now have a large order book for 2019, so the time was right for us to expand and be able to produce our own large-volume concrete."
